[Media Report] Taipei Okwork Expo Take Place at Taipei Expo Park on August 12th
In anticipation of the arrival of a multigenerational workforce in the job market, Taipei City will host the " Okwork Expo" on August 12th at the Taipei Expo Park. The event will feature 166 high-quality companies offering over 8,000 job openings. These opportunities come with an average monthly salary of NT$38,000 and an average hourly wage of NT$190. Notably, 60% of the job openings do not require prior work experience, making it an ideal opportunity for both young job seekers and career changers to submit their resumes.
Chen Yi-jun, the director of Taipei City's Employment Services Office, emphasized that the city's Labor Bureau has rigorously screened companies participating in the expo. These companies have no significant labor-management disputes, violations of labor laws, or major issues such as unpaid leave. Job seekers can confidently attend interviews with these employers. The participating companies primarily belong to the "Accommodation and Food Services," "Wholesale and Retail Trade," and "Manufacturing" sectors. Among various job categories, "Tourism/Food Service/Leisure," "Customer Service/Retail," and "Logistics/Transportation/Materials" offer the most job opportunities, accounting for 70% of the total jobs. Additionally, the "Information/Software/Systems" sector offers the highest average salary, exceeding NT$43,000, while "Construction/Drafting/Execution" and"Management/Administration/General Affairs" have average salaries exceeding NT$40,000. The expo also features over 1,800 part-time job opportunities and four internship opportunities, including positions like restaurant staff, housekeepers, cleaners, stock clerks, and caregivers, catering to a diverse range of job seekers, including those without prior experience, aiming to attract the youth and older age groups seeking flexible work arrangements.
The Labor Bureau noted that as the post-pandemic industries gradually recover and the domestic market becomes more active, companies are eager to secure manpower. Offering attractive incentives and benefits to attract talent is crucial. Apart from various government programs addressing labor shortages and employment, improving workplace equipment and machinery, providing employment aids, adjusting work methods, and enhancing the work environment are essential steps for businesses to simultaneously safeguard the retirement rights of laborers and utilize the skills and experience of older employees. Inter-generational communication is key for the successful transfer of valuable knowledge and expertise from senior workers to younger generations.
The Taipei City Employment Services Office mentioned that the expo will offer on-site services such as free resume health checks, mock interviews, and temporary childcare services for children aged 3 to 6. Those interested in attending the employment expo can pre-fill their resumes on the "Taipei Employment Guide" website to expedite the interview process at the event, ensuring a smoother path to employment for job seekers.
