[Media Report] Compal Electronics, Yankey Engineering, and Orient Semiconductor Electronics Jointly Provide Scholarships to Cultivate Master's-Level Talent
On the 7th of October, National Kaohsiung Normal University signed a "Master's Degree Program in Engineering - International Industry Master's Class" industry-academic cooperation agreement with three renowned companies, Compal Electronics, Yankee Engineering, and Orient Semiconductor Electronics, in the 10th-floor International Conference Hall of the Administration Building. In the future, Compal Electronics, Yankey Engineering, and Orient Semiconductor Electronics will each provide scholarships, offer practical internships,and post-graduation domestic and international job opportunities to foster master's-level talent. This collaboration aims to attract international students to study in Taiwan through industry-academic cooperation.
President of National Kaohsiung Normal University, Wu Lien-shang, stated that the Engineering International Master's Program is the university's first international program taught entirely in English, established in 2014 under the College of Science and Technology. It was created to support the government's "New Southbound Policy," address the challenges of declining domestic university enrollments due to a decreasing birthrate, and meet the demand for mid-level international professionals in Southeast Asian countries experiencing the relocation of industrial chains, thereby enhancing Taiwan's international competitiveness.
Dr. Lin Hong-ming, Dean of the College of Science and Technology and Director of the International Program, expressed gratitude for the joint efforts of the heads of the Departments of Electrical Engineering, Industrial Education, and Electronics in signing the "2023 Spring Semester International Industry Master's Program" cooperation agreement with Compal Electronics, Yankey Engineering, and Wistron Electronics. Compal Electronics will sponsor scholarships for 12 Vietnamese students, Yankey Engineering will sponsor scholarships for 7 Vietnamese students, and Orient Semiconductor Electronicswill sponsor scholarships for 5 Vietnamese students. The three companies collectively donated over NT$6.3 million, providing scholarships for international students from Vietnam and Malaysia, internship opportunities in the industry, and job opportunities both domestically and internationally.
Dean Lin Hong-ming pointed out that the Engineering International Master's Program - International Industry Master's Class, modularizes professional courses in areas needed by partner companies. The program designs research and development to provide international talents needed by partner companies.
Industry and academia are seamlessly connected, and international students can find employment with the sponsoring companies upon graduation. Vice President of Compal Electronics, Ding Chang-jie, emphasized Compal's high regard for global talent and thanked National Kaohsiung Normal University for establishing the International Industry Master's Class. He looks forward to the university's program serving as a catalyst for an influx of international talents and industry-academia cooperation, resolving the shortage of engineering talent, and making a concrete contribution to corporate social responsibility in collaboration with the industry. Assistant Manager of Yankey Engineering, Su Qi-zhang, expressed that cultivating talents requires significant effort and resources. Yankey Engineering is fortunate to sign a cooperation agreement with National Kaohsiung Normal University for the "International Industry Master's Class." Su hopes that the program can allow students to apply what they learn, become familiar with the skills and knowledge needed for future employment, quickly adapt to their jobs after graduation, improve their job performance, and advance to management positions early on.
